The design story:
The idea of designing this bag came from the cottage culture in Finland (where I migrated from Japan) as they spend summer holidays in their second houses, summer cottages. Typically they go shopping on the way to their cottages, and take lots of food and clothes in large bags in their cars. With this light-weight, self-standing, basket-like bag, you can easily carry and keep things during your travel, and also use as a storage bag for your living or bed room!
How it’s made:
- The top part of the bag is double layered and a piece of plywood is in between above the handle for reinforcement, then sewn together
- “zig-zag” sewn at the both sides of the body, and dark blue / black felt tapes are glued on the seams outside the body.
- Press-cutting of felt is done by Finnish company according to my design, and all other works are done by me in my studio in Rovaniemi, Finland.
Care instruction:
- Spot clean only by sopy warm water (under 30ºC). Not machine washable.
- The felt will be worn and pill same as wool sweater over time. You can “shave” its surface by a sharp razor then it will become like new.

- I will ship this item being folded. Please steam iron with middle temperature keeping small distance from the bag, then it will get the original shape back.
- This item is shipped by GLS/FedEx with tracking service in a postal cardboard box.
